The way in which the construction industry can contribute to protecting the environment is through the use of sustainable construction materials, which has become the main focus of research and development.
Buildings have a direct impact on the environment – ranging from the use of raw materials during construction, to maintenance and renovation, and even the emission of harmful substances throughout their life cycle.
In the European Union, the construction of buildings is responsible for: consumption of 40% of total materials
40% of total primary energy consumption
generates 40% of total waste
due to environmental deterioration
due to the increasing expansion of land used for built areas
The manufacturing of the modules is carried out in controlled environments and during the installation phase, impacts on site are reduced to a minimum. Namely: 50% reduction in the amount of water used to build a typical house;
50% reduction in the use of materials from a quarry;
Reduce energy consumption by 50% - 67%, thanks to reduced construction periods;
Reduction of up to 90% in the amount of waste associated with construction activities – namely, Construction and Demolition Waste;
Thermal and acoustic insulation that, produced in the factory, provides greater efficiency;
Reduces around 90% of vehicle movements. Thus, with the reduction in traffic on the roads, instead of several vehicles arriving at the site with the various components to manufacture the construction elements, only vehicles carrying the prefabricated parts circulate. – reducing pollution and noise on site;
